World’s leading online retailer Amazon has announce the acquisition of Selz, Selz provides tools to help companies open their own online stores. With this, the retail giant has now entered the field of Shopify.
Selz’s blog announced this new transaction that Amazon purchased the e-commerce platform last month on January 15. However, the transaction had not yet been publicly announced by Amazon.
Martin Rushe, founder and CEO of Selz, confirmed the acquisition:
“We have signed an agreement to be acquired by Amazon and are looking forward to working with them as we continue to build easy-to-use tools for entrepreneurs.”
Although Amazon has also confirmed the transaction, the company has not disclosed the terms or financial information related to the acquisition.
The founder of Selz stated that “nothing has changed” for customers because of the acquisition of Amazon. How Amazon plans to use Selz remains to be seen. The company’s tools can give the American e-commerce giant a competitive advantage Over Shopify and BigCommerce.
Selz was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Sydney, Australia. The company provides a platform for small and medium businesses to open their own online stores and add online payment options and other tools to existing websites.
