Instagram’s TikTok look alike known as Reels has officially been launched. The app has for some time now been on available in India for some time, but has now been launched officially worldwide.
Reels is a new way to create, discover and upload short, entertaining videos on Instagram, the company said. In simple terms, Reels is the name Instagram is giving to it 15 seconds videos sharing platform.
Reels works in a similar way as TikTok, you record, edit and upload 15 seconds videos. The videos can be added with some effects including audio.
Just like IGTV videos, Instagram’s feature for lengthy videos, Reels can be shared with your followers on your Feed for those with private accounts.
While Public account users will have their reels videos shared across Instagram via a new button added in the Explore section.
Under the Explore section in Reels, Instagram has made it easier to find videos with similar songs embedded in them, hashtags, or effects. Besides, Reels can also be shared to your Story, or as a direct message.
Reels share on the stories section will also work as regular Instagram stories and disappear after 24 hours.
Reels is accessible exactly at the bottom of Instagram’s camera button. There are various ways to upload videos in Reels, you can either upload in Series of clips (one at a time), or record a single clip at a time, or upload from your gallery.
With this launch, Reels is now available in more than 50 countries globally on both Android and iOS.
