Following the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic that has led to lockdown and restrictions of movements in other to curtail the spread people have looking for convenient ways to chat and video conference these days since they can’t easily visit their loved ones.
A lot of tech based companies have been trying to create convenient ways that people could still be connected to their loved ones and even business partners.
One of such companies is Microsoft who has created a video conferencing tool known as Team specially to allow businessesto hold virtual meetings.
Team app was created by Microsoft mainly for business use but now the company has announced the creation of a version for personal use.
The app, which is reported to be in its preview stage, is currently only available for mobile devices (iOS and Android).
Users get 10GB of file storage for their “team” and 2GB of personal file storage per person.
The app offers an assortment of approaches to communicate, which includes chat, audio only, and video. Everyone taking part must have the application on their device, and you additionally need a Microsoft account, which is easy
HOW TO OPEN TEAM ACCOUNT.
Follow the simple steps below to open a Team account.
- First you will download the Microsoft Teams app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. Sign in with your Microsoft account; if you don’t have one, you can sign up at this point. It’s free.
- If your place of work uses Microsoft Office, you will be asked to either select your organization or to create a personal account. In this case, tap on “Personal.”
- At this point, you’re told that others will be able to find you either using your phone number or your Microsoft email address. This information isn’t made public anywhere, but those who have one or the other will be able to use them to connect with you on Teams.
- The next screen allows you to sync your contacts with the Team app. It’s not necessarily.
Now you’re at the main screen for Teams. Tap on the pencil or paper icon to start a conversation. Teams lets you chat via audio, text, or video.
The bottom of Teams’ main screen contains a variety of features such as camera, calls etc.

The menu icon allows you set your availability, among other tasks.
A series of icons along the bottom let you check in on your activities such as tasks, updates, access your calendar, go to a chat or your OneDrive files.
Also the “More” icon at the end gives you access to your camera (letting you take photos, copy business cards, etc.), see a list of your calls and tasks, and use a “safe” to store sensitive information in an encrypted section.

The three line icon on the top left side lets you set your availability and a status message, leads to your settings, and lets you set notifications, among other features.

To begin a chat, tap on the “Chat” icon. The page will then list people or groups of people you’ve recently chatted with, select one to start a new chat. To start a chat session with a new person, tap on the pencil / paper icon and you’ll be asked to enter the person’s name, phone number, or email address once you have entered any click on invite. Chats can include texts, audio, and pictures.

Above the chat area, video and phone icons let you convert the chat into either a video session or an audioonly session. There are no much differences between the two, except that the audio session simply blocks the cameras of the participants.
Meanwhile, Teams’ ease of use and its integration with Microsoft’s calendar and OneDrive apps has made it very easy and convenient for people to use.
