Harmony OS

Huawei first released HarmonyOS 2.0 (also known as Hongmeng OS 2.0) at the 2020 Huawei Developer Conference. The technology giant officially announced today that it has released a developer beta version of the new ROM for application developers.

Wang Chenglu, president of Huawei’s consumer BG software department, said that this year, Midea, Joyoung, Boss Electronics and Puffin Technology have all released products running on Hongmeng OS.

By 2021, the technology giant’s goal is to cover more than 100 million devices from more than 40 mainstream brands.

HarmonyOS was originally designed for the Internet of Everything, with a better experience and more adaptability. For example, with HarmonyOS, JD’s applications can run on TVs, even refrigerators and other screen-equipped devices.

At present, a beta version of the public test recruitment activity has been launched, and developers and partners can apply for free to participate.

However, it is only open to Mate 40 series and Huawei P40 series and MatePad Pro tablets.

Starting from yesterday December 16, Hussein will provide developers with two methods to obtain the Beta version on selected devices.

By downloading the DevEco Studio 2.0 Beta3 version from the official website of HarmonyOS, developers can use the remote simulator in Huawei DevEco Studio. Or, they can use exclusive OTA to upgrade their equipment.
