INDIAN PC MARKET RECORDS HIGHEST QUARTER MARKET GROWTH IN Q3 2020.

According to research firm IDC (International Data Corporation), as people continue to work and receive education at home, the Indian PC market grew 9.2% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2020.

Companies successfully shipped 3.4 million units. The last quarter was India’s strongest quarter in the past seven years. In addition, the consumer market recorded the largest quarterly shipment in history of 2 million, with a year-on-year growth of 41.7% and a month-on-month growth of 167.2%.

Not only that, Apple also has the largest quarter in India, with a year-on-year growth of 19.4% in the third quarter of 2020. In addition, newcomers such as Avita and Xiaomi performed well.

Since the reopening of schools and universities is still uncertain, the market is expected to remain strong in the fourth quarter.

On the other hand, compared with the second quarter, there were not many shipments in the commercial sector. Therefore, the corporate market grew by only 3.1% year-on-year.

In addition, compared with desktop computers, companies prefer laptops, so desktop shipments increased by 70.1% year-on-year.

Finally, the small and medium-sized business market grew 5.5% year-on-year as some companies started operating.

Speaking of brands, HP leads the market with a market share of 28.2%, with shipments of 965,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 16.6%. Lenovo ranked second with 21.7% share. Its shipments were 744,000 units. Therefore, the company had the largest decline among the top five, down 16.9% year-on-year.

Then, Dell ranked third with a shipment of 731,000 units, a share of 21.3% and a year-on-year growth of 18.2%. Acer ranked fourth with a market share of 9.5%, and it was the only top brand outside Lenovo to experience a decline. To be precise, it was down 12.4% year-on-year and shipped 327,000 units.

Last but not least, ASUS is the fifth largest PC brand in India in the third quarter of 2020, with a market share of 7.5%. It is also the best performing brand, achieving 55.4% year-on-year growth by shipping 403,000 units.
