Popular photo sharing app Instagram is improving its live streaming feature by increasing the period that one can go live for without being cut off from 60 minutes to four hours.
This new extended live streaming timeframe will be available to all user except those who have a history of violating Instagram’s IP or policies.
Those who go live on Instagram will also be able to view their own live streams in their archive privately 30 days after. Within the 30 days, they can choose to download the video and store it on their devices or share it on another platform.
Instagram also wants to make it easy for users to find current live streams, like what Reddit does with its Top Broadcast section. A new “Live Now” section, coming soon to IGTV, will feature current live streams so users can easily find what’s interesting and jump in.
These upcoming features will be available on Instagram across Android and iOS but it’s not clear when.
