MEDIATEK COULD LAUNCH NEW 6NM DIMENSITY CHIPSET AT JANUARY EVENT.

MediaTek, one of the most popular mobile chip manufacturers, has confirmed that it will hold a press conference on January 20, at which time it will announce a new chipset under its Dimensity product lineup. The company set a “moving” theme for this event, which will showcase new products with superior technology and upgraded experience.

MediTek may launch a new chipset MT689x in mid-January, which seems to be consistent with the information previously leaked from the “digital chat station”. This will be the company’s first chipset manufactured using the 6nm process.

According to the report, two new Dimensity chipsets manufactured using 5nm or 6nm processes will be introduced. One of them is MT6893 using ARM Cortex-A78 core, the highest frequency of the main core is 3.0GHz.

It may come with Mali G77 GPU for graphics processing. The report also indicates that the upcoming MediaTek chipset will have the same design configuration as Samsung Exynos 1080, which will power the newly launched Vivo X60 series.

For those who don’t know, MediaTek’s Dimensity series of smartphone processors comes with support for 5G communication technology. So far, the company has launched a number of models in the product line, ranging from budget to premium mid-range products.

Thanks to the booming sales, MediaTek has become the third largest customer of chip manufacturer TSMC. Recently, the company was also named the leading supplier of smartphone chipsets for the third quarter of 2020 by Qualcomm.
