MediaTek is expected to announce a new chipset later this month. Although there are few official details, the leak has given us an early understanding of the expected situation. Now, the new leak provides more information, such as the name of the chipset, called Dimensity 1200, and so on.
The upcoming processor is the 6nm chipset, the first for the manufacturer. Moving to a smaller node size should certainly result in increased performance and efficiency, in line with Digital Chat Station.
A Chinese leaker revealed in a Weibo post that he had seen the spec and, from what he saw, it is a more powerful chipset than the Snapdragon 865. The increased performance is said to be in part due to the higher frequency.
This should mean that the chipset is clocked faster than the Snapdragon 865, which is clocked at 2.84 GHz.
The main frequency of Dimensity 1000+ is 2.6GHz, and the leak has shown that the main frequency of Dimensity 1200’s main A78 core is 3.0GHz.
It will also have three A78 cores clocked at 2.6GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0. GHz. Other details mentioned by the leaker indicate that CPU performance is not the only upgrade to MediaTek’s new chipset.
He also mentioned a better 5G modem and improved image signal processor (ISP), which will help the phone capture better pictures than the previous generation chipset.
We hope that Dimensity 1200 will appear in Vivo, OPPO, realme and iQOO phones after the announcement. We may even see chipset-powered phones provided by Honor and Huawei.
