According to reports, Microsoft is developing two new devices under its Surface product line-Microsoft Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop 4. Interestingly, the report indicates that Surface Laptop 4 may come with AMD chipset options.
When the Redmond-based technology giant launched the Surface Laptop 3 in October 2019, it became the first device equipped with modified AMD Ryzen 3700U and AMD Ryzen 5 3500U.
WindowsLatest reports that now, for its successor, the company will also have an AMD variant to achieve better optimization.
The Surfaces Laptop 4 specifications are still a mystery, and it is reported that Intel and AMD CPU options will be available again. However, the next generation of laptops will make a change to the current version of the laptop.
According to sources, the 13.5-inch variant of the device will also include AMD chips. In the current generation, only 15-inch models offer AMD options. According to reports, Microsoft has tested a 13.5-inch variant of the device with an unknown AMD chip.
Although the 13.5-inch upgrade has not yet been confirmed, a new Surface Laptop equipped with AMD will definitely be launched.
SURFACE LAPTOP 4 FEATURES:
- USB-C, 1 USB-A, and 1 Surface Connect port.
- Tiger Lake CPUs and Microsoft Edition AMD chips.
- Up to 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD storage.
- New Ice Blue colour variant.
According to benchmarks discovered in December 2019, Surface Laptop 4 will use another “Surface Ryzen Edition processor” which may be based on the Ryzen lineup.
Another benchmark test showed that the technology giant is using AMD Renoir CPUs and higher overall scores to test unknown Surface products, which indicates that Surface laptops equipped with Ryzen 4000 series laptop CPUs are about to appear.

It will be interesting to see if the company has any laptop surprises up its sleeve or if it would use the same Ryzen processors with additional optimizations. While the new Microsoft device may be announced in January, it won’t be available until at least March.
