PS5

PS5 WILL NOT BE COMPATIBLE WITH PS3, PS4 AND PS1 GAMES.

PS5 is almost here, in fact Sony the company producing the PS series has disclosed the price and date for the launch of the PS5. Along with the launch date and price some of the console key features was also disclosed .

However for those waiting to play those PS3, or older games, on the new powerful console, chances are you will be disappointed. According to Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President Jim Ryan, PS5 will be compatible with most PS4 games only. It’s a message Sony has reiterated several times.

IGN, reports that Ryan Jim Sony Entertainment director and CEO revealed that PS5 would not be compatible with PS3, PS2, and PS1 titles. Ryan says the team engineered the PS5 to be compatible with PS4 titles because it already has 100 million players worldwide.

While implementing that, we also focused our efforts on taking in the high-speed SSD and the new controller DualSense at the same time… So, unfortunately, we could not achieve compatibility with those formats,” he said.

The only way to play older PS3 and PS2 games on the current PS5 console is through Sony’s streaming service, PS Now. Support for PS1 games isn’t available on the PS4. Consequently, on the PS5, chances for PS1 titles support were minimal, if any.

PS Now will be compatible with PS5, though, according to Sony, even though that remains to be seen.

Also at the recent event, Sony announced a new service called PlayStation Plus collection, which will launch alongside the new consoles. The PlayStation Plus collection includes some of the big titles from PS4 and also acts as an answer to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass.
