Recently, Xiaomi has released the MIUI 12 update to its older, reasonably priced smartphones. Redmi 7A recently started to receive this update, and now its successors Redmi 8A and Redmi 8 have also begun to get it. The update is being done simultaneously for multiple regional variants of these phones.
Like Redmi 7A, Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A were released with MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie. These smartphones were later updated to MIUI 11 and Android 10. Now they are also beginning to receive MIUI 12 update.
The MIUI 12 update currently exists for the following regional variants of Redmi 8:
- Global: V12.0.1.0.QCNMIXM
- EEA: V12.0.1.0.QCNEUXM
- Russia: V12.0.1.0.QCNRUXM
Similarly, the Redmi 8A MIUI 12 update is currently available in the following regions:
- China: V12.0.1.0.QCPCNXM
- EEA: V12.0.1.0.QCPEUXM
Except for the Redmi 8 Global variant, all the above-mentioned builds are in the stable Beta stage. Because this version of the update itself was released in December.
In addition, we hope that more regional variants will be updated in the near future, especially India. MIUI 12 is the last major update of Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A. These devices may receive MIUI 12.5 later this year, but Android 11 will not be installed.
