The Redmi Note series has always been Xiaomi’s best-selling smartphone model after the Redmi A series. Nonetheless, these devices are usually late to get new system updates. For example, Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S only started receiving MIUI 12 updates in India of recent.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 series in India at the end of February 2019. These phones made their debut on MIUI 10 based on Android Pie.
All three phones in the series were updated to MIUI 11 later that year. However, the company only started seeding the Android 10 update for these devices in late June, and then proceeded to a wider deployment in August. In the same month, Redmi Note 7 Pro began to receive the MIUI 12 update in China and further expanded to more regions in September.
Then, in late October, the MIUI 12 update is available for Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S. A month later, in November, these two phones have now begun to receive the same update in India.
Since these two smartphones are basically the same phone, but the main camera is different (12MP vs. 48MP), they run the same software version.
Therefore, the MIUI 12 update has the internal version number V12.0.1.0.QFGINXM for them.
Currently, this update is a stable Beta version, which means that the update is only available for limited users. If these early adopters do not experience any major issues, this update will be rolled out to more users in the coming days.
