Six months after China announced the Reno4 series, OPPO’s Reno series has been updated. The new Reno5 series was released in China yesterday with professional models.
RENO 5 SERIES DESIGN:
The Reno5 series comes with an upgraded design language. OPPO said that this patented new process uses a pyramid-shaped crystal structure in the glass rear panel to make it more shiny.

They also added an oleophobic coating to reduce stains. Since the refractive indices of the thousands of nano-film coatings used are different, the Galaxy Dream versions of the two phones have a color changing function.
OPPO has also added a fluorescent coating to the top of the phone and camera cases, which absorbs light and then glows in the dark.
These two phones are also thin and light. The weight of the Reno5 is 172 grams and the thickness is 7.9mm, while the weight of the pro model is 173 grams, but the thickness is thinner, only 7.6mm. Reno5 and Reno5 Pro will offer Galaxy Dream, Aurora Blue and Moonlit Night color variants.
RENO5 5G SPECS:
Reno5 has a 6.43-inch flat OLED screen with a resolution of 2400 x 1080. The refresh rate of the display is 90Hz, and the touch sampling rate is 180Hz.
It has a pixel density of 410 PPI and a peak brightness of 750 nits. There is a hole in the upper left corner of the screen for the front camera.
The standard model is equipped with the same Snapdragon 765G processor-Reno4 5G and Reno4 Pro 5G as its predecessor.
Buyers will be able to purchase the phone in two configurations: an 8GB RAM version with 128GB storage space and a 12GB RAM version with 256GB storage space. The storage type is UFS 2.1 (dual channel) and does not support expansion.
There are four rear cameras on the back of the phone, although we are sure that only two of them will get a lot of use.

The main camera is a 64MP f/1.7 sensor with a 6P lens, and it comes with an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2MP f/2.4 macro camera and another 2MP f/2.4 camera for capturing deep details. The selfie camera is a 32MP f/2.4 sensor.
There is no OIS, but OPPO claims that its electronic image stabilization function does a good job.
The phone is bundled with many interesting camera functions. You can record from the front and rear cameras at the same time; even when recording at night, you can also record real-time HDR video; bokeh video; and professional portrait photography tools.
Reno5 5G has a 4300mAh battery and supports 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging. It is also backward compatible with SuperVOOC and VOOC 3.0, and supports 18W power output and fast charging.
Other features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, support for face unlock, dual SIM cards (only for Nano), Bluetooth 5.1, USB-C and audio jack. OPPO offers it with ColorOS 11 based on Android 11.
RENO 5 PRO 5G SPECS:
The Reno5 Pro 5G has a slightly larger display. This is a 6.55-inch curved OLED panel with the same resolution as the standard model.
It also has a hole punch, a 90Hz refresh rate and a 120Hz touch sampling rate. Its peak brightness is also higher at 1100 nits.
OPPO specifically stated on the website that the displays used in Reno5 phones come from different manufacturers.
Therefore, due to differences in manufacturing technology, the displays of different devices may be different. The supply logo is shown on the retail box of the mobile phone.
Unlike Reno4 Pro 5G equipped with Snapdragon 765G processor, Reno5 Pro 5G is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000+ processor. It has the same configuration as the standard model.
For the camera, OPPO retains the exact configuration of the standard model, but the field of view of the 32MP camera is slightly lower. You will also get almost the same camera features.

Reno5 Pro has multifunctional NFC, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and USB-C ports, but will skip the audio jack. It has dual SIM card support and can run Android 11 directly.
Its battery capacity is 4350mAh, with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast wired charging function, and supports other charging protocols of standard models.
