Samsung Tab

Samsung Electronics has become the top brand in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) tablet PCs in the fourth quarter of last year. As the world shifts to the digital realm of work and education, the pandemic has caused the popularization of devices with larger screens.

According to a report by BusinessStandard, the South Korean technology giant shipped more than 4 million tablets in the EMEA region between October 2020 and December 2020. According to a company based on industry analysis, the company’s market share in the region is 28.1%, IDC. These figures have increased over the same period last year, when the company sold only 3.2 million tablets, with a market share of 24.8%.

As per IDC, “Samsung held first position in EMEA due to its positive and strong growth across the region and mainly driven by its presence in digitization projects in schools in Central and Eastern European countries.”

In addition, the tablet computer market in Central and Eastern Europe also increased by 32.3% year-on-year. This increase was higher than that in the Middle East and Africa, which increased by only 10.3%.

At the same time, the tablet computer market in Western Europe grew by only 7.7% year-on-year. In the tablet market, Samsung is closely followed, and Apple sold 3.5 million tablets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in the last quarter of last year.

This is also an increase of 17.1% from a year ago, and the company’s market share in the region is 24.6%. According to Nikolina Jurisic, IDC’s Senior Research Manager in Europe, “The increase in the number and price of laptops is urging consumers to focus on tablets, as lock-in and stay-at-home measures still exist. Online education and online Digital projects are visible in the region, with the largest recorded projects in Romania, Kazakhstan, Turkey and South Africa.”
