From the above picture we can see that the data consumed by Chrome in the Fore ground was 7GB while that consumed in the background was roughly above 700MB.

Stopping Chrome from running in the background data would have saved the over 700 MB consumed.

Now that we have established that switching off back ground data usage for some apps helps to minimize data consumption, follow the steps below to switch off back ground data usage for any app;

  • Go to Settings on your devices.
  • Click on Network
  • Click on data usage
  • Click on mobile data usage
  • You will see a chart showing your data usage with a list of apps down starting with those that consumes more data, click on the app you want to switch off back ground data usage.
  • You will see enable background data usage, switch it off.
  • You are done.

2. AVOID STREAMING HIGH QUALITY VIDEOS ONLINE.

Online video streaming is one major way which our data gets exhausted easily.
