WhatsApp has announced a new feature to help users check if viral forwarded messages are fake. The new feature permits you to look for a viral message on the web to check whether it has misdirecting data.
Hence forth every frequently forwarded messages on WhatsApp will have a new magnifying glass icon. This icon lets you search the message on the web directly to check their credi. It’s part of the company’s plan to curb misinformation on WhatsApp.
HOW TO USE THIS WHATSAPP FEATURE.
To use this feature follow the outlined steps below:
- Open WhatsApp app
- Open any chat with a viral message message marked with double arrows with forwarded label on the top
- Click the magnifying glass icon and select “Search web” from the pop up.
You’ll now be taken to a page and from there you can check the credibility of the message.
This new feature has started rolling out to users in some parts of the world, such as, Brazil, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Spain, UK, and the US.
It is expected to be global very soon.
